1. Information We Collect

When you use Volta Builders, we collect the following kinds of personal information:

• Your name, email address, location (if you choose to share), and profile picture
• Details about your skills, expertise, and your portfolio or outcome reports (files you upload)
• Usage data about how you interact with the platform, but only when you explicitly opt in to analytics

We do not store raw IP addresses in feedback or account-deletion records.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information for these purposes:

• To register and authenticate your account securely (logging in, verifying email, etc.)
• To send you notifications, updates, and information relevant to your account or the service
• To let you build and display your profile and portfolio / outcomes
• To improve, maintain, and enhance our platform when you have opted in to analytics
• To allow published profiles and outcomes to be viewed by any visitor, including visitors who are not signed in

3. Consent

You choose whether to publish your profile and outcomes. Published profiles and outcomes can be viewed by any visitor. GTM and Microsoft Clarity load only after you opt in, and you can reject or change that analytics preference at any time.

4. Data Storage & Third Parties

• We do not sell or rent your personal information.
• We do not share your private data with third parties for advertising or marketing.
• Published profiles and outcomes are public. Draft content and private administrative enrichment are not included in the public profile.
• Any retained GitHub issue created from feedback is anonymized when the account is deleted, and its screenshot is deleted.
• We use Netlify to host the service, and store data in Canada via Supabase. We ensure our hosting and storage providers adhere to reasonable security practices.

5. How Long We Keep Your Data

• Your account information and uploaded content are retained as long as your account is active, or as long as necessary for the purposes we collected them (for example, to provide the service).
• If you delete your account, we remove owned screenshots and files, anonymize retained GitHub feedback issues, delete local feedback, profile and outcome records, and then delete the authentication account.
• If required storage or GitHub cleanup fails, deletion reports a retryable failure instead of claiming that the account has been fully deleted.

6. Access, Correction, and Deletion

• You can view or edit your profile or portfolio information whenever you want.
• If your information is incorrect, incomplete, or out of date, you can ask us to correct it.
• You can request account deletion from your profile. The service reports success only after required external cleanup and account deletion have completed.

7. Security

We employ reasonable measures (technical, administrative, and physical) to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, loss, or misuse. Because data is stored in Canada with our chosen providers, it remains under Canadian jurisdiction.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of your personal information if it's wrong or outdated
• Request deletion of your account and personal information (to the extent permitted by law)
• Withdraw consent for certain uses of your data (if applicable)

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on the site with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Volta Builders after changes means you accept the revised policy.
